I'm currently expecting my 4th child. My three previous where all born in hospitals - the first two with me getting as many drugs and lines that they could possibly push into me. My recovery was slow and the bonding process with the babies took a couple of months to get established. My 3rd baby I purposely stayed home as long as physically possible short of having an unassisted home birth that I wasn't ready for. By the time I arrived there was no time for any interventions and the birth was amazing. I was ready to leave the hospital and get my grocery shopping done just three hours later. I bonded with my baby faster and had no issues with PPD.

With this 4th baby I'm SO excited to be birthing at a birth center with a midwife. I can't wait for the "less sterile" environment and being able to really *gasp* enjoy the entire birthing process. There is something magical that happens when you have no synthetic drugs running through your system and that baby comes out. The rush of natural hormones is amazing and it's just an experience I wish more where able to have.

With birthing centers on the rise it's lovely to see more and more stepping away from the norm and into what was once the only practice of delivering babies. Women shouldn't be scared of birth but the medical community forces that perception.

Elizabeth, thank you so much for this post! It's wonderful to hear from midwifery consumers who support birth centres. All the best to you and your family (including your pugs!)

Liz, Eula is clearly possessed by the devil and only an exorcist will help.
Oh poor you and poor baby. Talk to your pediatrician. Maybe she needs a diet change.
Writing you now privately in long delayed response to your email message. Love, Rhea
